May 20 – Meeting Announcement

THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SOUTH NASSAU WATER AUTHORITY WILL HOLD A PUBLIC MEETING ON MONDAY, MAY 20, 2024 AT 6:00 PM AT THE LYNBROOK PUBLIC LIBRARY LOCATED AT 56 ELDER STREET, LYNBROOK, NEW YORK TO DISCUSS THE POTENTIAL MUNICIPALIZATION OF THE LIBERTY UTILITIES HEMPSTEAD SERVICE AREA. RESIDENTS CURRENTLY RECEIVING WATER FROM LIBERTY UTILITIES AND RESIDING WITHIN THE TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND. THE BOARD WILL CONDUCT SUCH BUSINESS AS MAY LAWFULLY COME BEFORE IT AND WILL RECEIVE PUBLIC COMMENT.

In November of 2021, the State of New York created the South Nassau Water Authority, a public entity with the purpose of seeking better drinking water service and lower costs for the residents of the Town of Hempstead that are currently provided service by Liberty Utilities, a private company.   The water authority board is currently composed of John Reinhardt, Ella Stevens, Robert Gizzi, John Conroy, and Mark Plumer.
